Muhammad Ali is possibly the greatest boxer in the history of the sport. Ali won the World Heavyweight Championship three times, and as an amateur, he won a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. Ali captured the public's imagination with his grace, his wit, and his charm. His very public conversion to Islam also added to his mystique.

Ali's unorthodox fighting and boxing style helped him win over the public. He described his manner of fighting with catchphrases in which he described his technique as "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee", and rope-a-dope. Ali ramped up his pre-match hype, where often "trash talked" opponents on television and in person prior to theboxing match, often using rhymes to insult his opponent and hype up his own image. Muhammad Ali's did not fight in normal boxing method of carrying the hands high to defend the face . Instead, Ali relied on his foot speed and natural quickness to avoid his opponents' punches, and he carried his hands low.
